So how does Nokia 3650 phone + my hair + $500 USD = $3000 USD ???Answer is in this fun story …

Nokia releases the 3650 model, the first smartphone ever ! (well there was the 7650 before it but that was just pure crap !) this baby had it all: the latest symbian OS, audio + video clip recording, MMC cards it was just amazing ! and for a geek like me, it’s a perfect excuse to start drooling

I was in high school and during the final exams at the time, and I just had an intense craving for it, a lust even ! I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT ! and I didn’t have enough money at the time … so I turned to my not-so-generous dad, who immediately agreed on “lending” me the money … of course he had a big “to-do” and “not-to-do” list for me … first item on the to-do list : cut my hair !

Back then I used to have GREAT hair, and when I say GREAT I mean GREAT ! It’s the one real good thing I had going for me back then … so hair vs. geek gadget ? … Gadget wins
First item on the not-to-do list is NOT SMOKE …. EVER ! Well I can’t say that was a bad thing to “not-do” … but it was surely NOT FUN … so I quit smoking …

Of course there was a lot more items on the lists .. but those two I remember most, because they were the hardest …oh yeah … I forgot to mention how much money I was getting ! well a big $500 USD !!! And yeah for Syria THAT IS A LOTthe equivalent of $30,000 USD !!!!! there are whole families who live by roughly $100 a month back in Syria so $500 is the amount of money you would only see in dreams ! But I didn’t care about the money as much as I wanted to get my hands on that damn smart phone !

so anyways … I got the money and within an hour I got my geek gadget …
it was stolen after a week …
what ? more dots ? OK…………………………………………………………………………….
Yeah it was heart breaking, even more … it drove me near mad ! People would get a heart attack for just smelling that amount of money and I just lost it … how did it happen ? well I was in a friends mobile shop and was running low on battery so I asked him to charge it for me and left it there for about 10 min (maybe less) and when I got back nobody could find it … we tore the whole place up and simply couldn’t find it … by the time we realized it was stolen it was too late to do anything about it … (the police doesn’t do anything in Syria …)
so being mad as hell I took it out on my buddy (the shop owner) and I wanted him to pay for it, cuz it was obviously his responsibility, the guy didn’t have enough money at the time so he ended up paying me $200 USD … less than half …
Sad story eh ?
